Avoid the 'Refresh Rate Trap' by ensuring your KVM supports the full bandwidth of your 240Hz+ monitor. I have a 2 port Startech KVM switch ( SV211HDUA4K) when we attempt to switch between computer 1 to computer 2 and vise versa it takes about 8-10 seconds to load the other computer. Now I know this isn't a huge deal, but I have been asked to look and see if there is any way I can speed this up. Input Processing Time: How quickly the KVM switch can process the signals from the mouse and keyboard to the PC. I assume that the delay to display is being caused by the HDMI handshaking to complete. This is super useful for people who have more than one computer but don't want the hassle of switching between different keyboards and mice.

KVM switch resolution issues are often caused by cheap adapters or monitor limits, not the KVM. Check your monitor's manual for true specs; manufacturers may advertise misleading refresh rates. Just bought a KVM switch for me to easily switch between my work laptop and my personal desktop. When I run "Preferences->Display", the "Resolution" choices range from 1920x1200 down to 800x600. However, when I plug the monitor to the computer through a Kceve 4K KVM switch, I can only get up to 1920 x 1080.

KVM switch does not recognize edid
The EDID doesn't matter in a KVM, however if it doesn't emulate the EDID of the monitor connected to it, then when the KVM switches away from the monitor, the OS will treat it as a disconnect. iNet KVM is already suitable for most scenarios and usually does not need to be modified. If you have ever used a KVM switch and experienced long black screens, windows moving to the wrong monitor, refresh rates being reset, or your computer suddenly "forgetting" the original display layout after switching, the issue may not necessarily be caused by the monitor or the computer itself. Have you tried some different vga cables? check your cabling to ensure that there is proper continuity on the designated ground pins (and other pins) in the connectors. Last year I bought a DisplayPort KVM, it's connected to my laptop (through a USB-C docking station) for work, and to my desktop for gaming.
