How to connect the fiber optic cable to the disk array

Data transmission from the host to the array controller modules is through fiber-optic cables. The fiber-optic cables connect to the controllers through Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) transceivers (FIGURE 6-6). Plastic Fiber Optic Array

Plastic Optical Fiber (POF) is a type of optical fiber constructed from polymer-based materials, most commonly polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA). Similar to glass optical fiber, POF transmits light (for illumination or data) through the core of the fiber. Its chief advantage over the glass product, other aspect being equal, is its robustness. Fiber arrays (or fiber-optic arrays or fiber array units) are one- or two-dimensional arrays of optical fibers. For applications requiring fibers spaced apart with higher accuracy, we can also supply precision hole arrays machined in fused silica.

Fiber Array Adhesive

The table below lists a selection of adhesives that are suitable for joining, reinforcing and sealing fibre cables, fibre-chip interfaces and fibre arrays. NTT-AT's series of adhesives for fiber array assemblies feature high moisture resistance and excellent workability for v-groove fixing or optical fiber fixing. Among them, the E series, which is particularly durable, has been well received by many customers. To secure fibre-optic cables, fibre arrays and waveguides, Hoenle has developed special adhesives that can allow an unimpeded transmission of light at optical interfaces. To maintain their light transmission properties, they do not yellow or otherwise change in colour with age.

Fiber Array Grinding Angle

Fiber array unit is usually used in planar optical waveguides, arrayed waveguide gratings, active/passive array fiber devices, micro-electromechanical systems, multi-channel optical modules, and so on. The v-groove fiber arrayis mainly composed of V-groove bottom plate, cover plate, optical fiber and glue. , and place it in the upper center of the pasting equipment for pasting, and take out the pasted substrate after the operation is completed.

Disclosed is a method and system applicable to attaching a single or multiple optical fibers in sequence to a photonic integrated circuit enabling precise control of optical fibers and/or multiple types of optical fibers and/or at any pitch.
