Analysis of the shortcomings of the fiber optic cable industry
When I talk to network operators across North America, there are three key challenges that have emerged as a recurring theme: the need for fast, cost-effective deployment; a shortage of skilled labor to get the job done; and the challenge of getting more high-speed data lines into. The nationwide fibre rollout is crucial for Germany's competitiveness and digital progress. In mid-2024, only 23 percent of households were connected to the fibre network (homes connected), and only 11 percent had booked a fibre connection. In this technology driven age, lifestyles, businesses and the education sector are at a notable disadvantage without reliable and ubiquitous connectivity. 5 billion by 2030, and demand is shifting fast as data centers take 35% of fiber demand in 2023. The fiber broadband industry continues to evolve rapidly, driven by surging demand, transformative government funding programs, and ongoing technological advancements. At the same time, the supply chain supporting fiber deployment faces new challenges that require a coordinated response from all.
